Authors

This course has been put together by a group of experienced film educators, from 5 different European countries, and includes material and examples from many more. It is produced as part of the project ‘Film Education: from framework to impact’, and is funded by the Creative Media programme of the European Union.

The course materials have been created by a team from the BFI, Danish Film Institute, Cinematheque Francaise, Vision Kino, as well as colleagues from Greece, Italy, Estonia, and Slovenia.

Authors

Charlotte Giese

Charlotte Giese works as Special Advisor at the Danish Film Institute (DFI) in Copenhagen, focusing on Film Education for Next Generations –with key areas such as Creative Film Studios, Pre-School and European programs.

From 1992 she worked as Commissioning Editor/Production Support/Films for children and young people at Danish Film Institute, and in 1998 she co- initiated the Department for Children & Youth. The Department developed a nationwide program for schools and pre-schools, through cinemas, streaming platforms and hands-on film-studios – and furthermore, a number of European and International projects.

She also cooperates with film organizations in Africa and Middle East around strategic development and programmes.

Sabine Genz

After studying media science, Sabine Genz has been working with and for children’s media since 1995, in the field of film education since 1999. She has been part of the VISION KINO team for six years now and is, among other things,responsible for teaching material, monthly film recommendations for education and copyright issues.

Mark Reid

Mark is Head of UK Learning Programmes at the BFI (British Film Institute), where he has worked for over 20 years. He has co-ordinated a number of European film education projects, including Screening Literacy, the Framework for Film Education, and Film: a language without borders. He writes, researches, and teaches about film education, and oversees the education programme at BFI Southbank in London.

Ian Wall

Educated at the University of York where he studied English and Related Literatures, Ian went on to teach at Holland Park School in London. He held the posts of Head of English, Head of Film and Media and Deputy Head of Humanities Faculty. In 1986 he founded FILM EDUCATION.

The organisation expanded from producing printed study materials to developing CD ROMS, running In Service training for teachers, producing television programmes for the BBC Learning Zone and Channel 4 Schools on film related topics as well as continuing to produce film related and generic print materials. Since 1995 working with the Film Education TV team Ian developed over 50 television programmes, both as producer and scriptwriter.

Following the closure of Film Education in 2013, Ian has established The Film Space to continue the work carried out by Film Education. Ian has won two BAFTA’s (children’s interactive learning) as well as a ‘Learning on Screen’ award, all for interactive teaching resources.

Nathalie Bourgeois

Looks after film education at La Cinémathèque française, and is especially involved in European and international programmes. For many years she has led le Cinema, cent ans de jeunesse, a film education programme running in many countries around the world.

Kari Eggert Rysgaard

The Head of the Educational Program at FILM-X / Danish Film Institute. Her working field is developing hands-on film activities for schools and preschools – both in the film studios FILM-X and in schools, libraries and daycare institutions..

Lisbeth Arto Juhl Sibbesen

Is the editor of film education at the Danish Film Institute. Her main focus is DFI’s streamingsite Filmcentralen. She has also been developing and facilitating courses in film education throughout Denmark for many years. She has given many lectures and published several articles on film education and film analysis.

Martin Brandt-Pedersen

Works at the Danish Film Institute as a consultant in film education and educational manager for Filmcentralen/Education, a learning platform and a streaming service for schools.

Martin Schantz Faurholt

Martin Schantz Faurholt works as an editor of film education at the Danish Film Institute. He is especially involved in development of teaching resources on DFI’s learning platform, Filmcentralen.

Jacob Breuning

Works at the Danish Film Institute. He is head of Denmark’s national school cinema program working with cinema culture, film and media literacy.

Barbara Rovsing Olsen

Barbara Rovsing Olsen works as Project Coordinator at the Danish Film Institute in Copenhagen with key areas such as Film education for Pre-schoolers, Children’s Cinema programs and purchase of short and documentary films for the Danish Film Institute’s distribution.

Maria Leonida

Maria Leonida is a media tutor and documentary film director. Co-founder and Director of Karpos, an NGO focusing in media literacy running Greek and European Projects. Her documentary work has been screened in Film Festivals and TV channels around Europe with various subjects on art and society. Maria trained in filmmaking in London and Denmark. She holds a BA in History and an MA in Art History.

ستعملون في مجموعات من أجل تأليف قصة مصورة ونص كتابي لفيلم قصير يحكي قصة عنوانها "لو أصبحت القصص مصابيح حقيقية". وحين تنتهون من ذلك، ستقدمون قصتكم المصورة والنص الكتابي إلى باقي الفصل- وسترون كيف تندرج قصتكم في الصورة الأكبر التي كونها الفصل بكامله.
